This general martial art was once known as "ushu-ganashi-mē no bugei", or "his majesty's martial art." Motobu Udundi traditionally utilized various scaleable methods, both armed and unarmed, to protect the Ryukyu King.
The art was passed down through the generations only to the eldest son of the Motobu "aji" family line. Motobu, Choyu was the 11th Soke, and;"The last Samurai of the Ryukyu King". His successor, Uehara Seikichi was the 12th Soke of Motobu Udundi and we are proud to continue his tradition of training under the leadership of his most senior students in Okinawa.
You too can learn this great tradition!
Wakatake-Kan is led by Kancho Bauza and is the 10th Dojo of the Okinawa Motobu Udundi Association and a trustee of the Okinawa Motobu Udundi association currently led by Kaicho Ishikawa. For more information on our connections and line please visit our parent site.
