This seminar offered new experiences for both Newcomers and returning participants; with a few surprises in store!

Our Seminar covered Motobu Udunti's history, lineage, basic body mechanics and structured the training sessions after Okinawa's "Sunset Beach" class sessions /Kihon (Basic training). The capstone of the sessions had newcomer students intorduced to Udunti basic concepts, while returning participants had access to intermediate material!

We are planning even more great training for next seminar for both new and returning participants, building on both the participants' learned skills and our experience hosting this past seminar to make the next one even better.
Alumni from the intermediate material will have access to advanced concepts, You don't want to miss this.

Starting with a comprehensive lecture on the history of the Ryukyu Kingdom. Bauza Sensei shares the deep and rich heritage of Motobu Udunti with the seminar attendants. Who was Choyu Motobu, Uehara Seikichi and how their history and students brought "the secret martial art of the Ryukyu King" to a place where we could learn it.

Motobu Udunti generates its power in a very different way from Karate. as such, our opening night included basic training on body mechanics, posture, walking and Udunti basics.

Aside from Martial training, we engaged in cultural appreciation; sharing in traditional Japanese food/beverages, music and brought out several Kimono, Yukata, Jimbe and Haori coats for participants to try on.

It is rare that junior practitioners get to interact with the head of an organization. However, Kaicho Masanobu Ishikawa, current head of the board of trustees for Motobu Udunti and Uehara Seikichi Memorial Association, took the time to join us from Sunset Beach in Okinawa via Zoom, to congratulate, encourage, and impart some words of wisdom upon our participants.

Having dressed up to Japanese cultural standards, some took advantage of the beautiful gardens throughout the Island Hotel to make an impromptu photo shoot.

The hotel's brunch buffet may be noteworthy, but it pales in comparison to having a traditional Japanese meal cooked on your table, and breaking bread with your fellow Udunti practitioners in the Villa Suite.

Although he came as a guest Udunti Instructor and expert in body mechanics; This year we had the privilege of having him as a master chef. Sensei Yoza Kozo also showcased his prowess in the kitchen!

Be it traditional brewed tea, Matcha green tea, other, more festive spirits, or the Okinawa-exclusive Awamori rice whiskey, we shared libations suitable for everyone.
